The saddest day I came across is when I learned that life goes on without me. Because I’m going through hell right now and it scares me that the people that once meant the world to me are now just going to be a memory. The people I thought would be with me until I was old and gray are now living their life’s. I may never see these people again, and all the plans I made with them will be nothing but plans. It scares me because these people were my whole world and I am terrified that I will never have that again. I will never have a group of people that care for me as much as I care for them. Life goes on without me and honestly it scares me because my whole life changed in a blink of an eye and it will continue changing.

(Rather than ban the book about book-banning outright, Venado Middle school in Irvine, CA utilized an expurgated version of the text in which all the “hells” and “damns” were blacked out.)
